Adding Projects

Which projects can be added?

You can decide if a project is interesting enough to share. We think a project should comply to at least one of the following criteria:

 • it's interesting architecture,
 • new (sustainability) techniques are used,
 • interesting architect,
 • impact on environment or city.

The criteria above are always relative to where it's build. A regular residence can be interesting in a small village but is probably not interesting in a city like New York.

What is proposed project?

A proposed project can be considered as such if it fulfills of the following criteria:

 • it has a specific site,
 • it has a developer/financier who owns the site,
 • it has a full professional design team who are in the process of progressing the design beyond the conceptual stage,
 • it has a dialogue with the local planning authorities with a view to obtaining full legal permission for construction,
 • it has a full intention to progress the building to construction and completion.
How to measure the height?

Height must be measured from the level of the lowest, significant, open-air, pedestrian entrance to the architectural top of the building, including spires, but not including antennae, signage, flag poles or other functional-technical equipment. This measurement is the most widely utilized.

How to count the number of floors?

The number of floors should include the ground floor level and be the number of main floors above ground, including any significant mezzanine floors and major mechanical plant floors. Mechanical mezzanines should not be included if they have a significantly smaller floor area than the major floors below nor should mechanical penthouses or plant rooms protruding above the general roof area.

Who is the Structural Engineer?

Structural engineers are responsible for engineering design and analysis. Entry-level structural engineers may design the individual structural elements of a structure, for example the beams, columns, and floors of a building. More experienced engineers would be responsible for the structural design and integrity of an entire system, such as a building.

Who is the MEP Engineer?

Architectural engineering, also known as Building engineering, is the application of engineering principles and technology to building design and construction. Definitions of an architectural engineer may refer to an engineer in the structural, mechanical, electrical, construction or other engineering fields of building design and construction.

Who is the Contractor?

A general contractor is a group or individual that contracts with another organization or individual (the owner) for the construction, renovation or demolition of a building, road or other structure. A general contractor is defined as such if it is the signatory as the builder of the prime construction contract for the project.

Posting Comments

How can I add pictures to comments?

To post a picture in the forums, follow the instructions below:

 • First you need a Flickr account. There's a link at the top of every Flickr page to create an account. If you're unfamiliar with Flickr, it's a free site that lets you upload and share pictures
 • Upload your image file to Flickr
 • Go to the picture's page and click on the 'ALL SIZES' tab on top of the picture.
 • Choose the medium size. The large size will make the forum pages load too slowly.
 • Flickr: Once at the "All Sizes" page, copy the text in the "Grab the Photo's URL" section. (Here highlighted in blue.)
 • Paste the url into the comment box in the forums and put the url between , and submit your post.

That's it. You should now see your picture in your forum post.

(And of course if you want to use another image sharing service or your own server, you're more than welcome to do that too.)
