Caixa Forum in Madrid

The Caixa Forum of Madrid is the result of the complete reform of an industrial building in the Prado Avenue. The 1900 hydroelectric power station was chosen to house the Caixa Forum foundation, that includes temporary expositions and another cultural initiatives. The brick facade was preserved, but the skirting board was removed, leaving the building suspended in the air over a big public square. At right, there is a 24 metres tall vertical garden designed by botanic Patrick Blanc, with 480 m2 and 15.000 plants of 250 different species.
