Hafenspitze in Düsseldorf

The ensemble includes the twin “Kunstkubus“ blocks, a bridge and an
office block on a spit of land at the harbour. The minimalist architectural
style of glass, concrete facing and wood creates an aesthetic and stimulating
appeal in the shape of the buildings themselves and their relationship
to one another. The high-rise block fronts facing the water are
transparent and light in appearance over the whole interior. Reflections
from the surrounding water, greenery and buildings were included in the
design. The two 65 m high parallel hotel buildings with their sculptural
appeal, the theme event plateau connected via an outside steps that
develops into an arts museum, the 65 m high office block with an adjoining
low-rise building and pedestrian bridge with “docked” glass cubes for
restaurants, arts galleries and boutiques form the basis for a building and
leisure complex that matches the harbour cityscape while creating a new
urban highlight on Speditionsstrasse.
