Because this design is very specific compared to all those new unspectacular stadiums in Germany. They look in most cases like big beton bowls (for example Aachen and Dresden) and could also stand in any other town. Those little features like the brick cladding and the associated connection to Hamburg give the Millerntor Stadion a "soul", so that it gets a high recognition value.

However, I like the design and gave it 10 points! Smilie

I rated this with a 7. Why do others give this project such a high rating?

Millerntor Stadion in Hamburg

The Millerntor-Stadion is a stadium in Hamburg St. Pauli, Germany. It is mainly used for football matches and is the home stadium of FC St. Pauli. It is on the Heiligengeistfeld, near the Reeperbahn.
The Stadium will be rebuilt in 4 phases. The first rebuilded bank was the southern one. It was finished 2008. Today the new main bank is under construction an will be finished in summer 2010.

One very speciall feature is the nursery, called "Piraten Nest", in the corner between the south and the main bank. The Stadium gets a brick cladding which should illustrate the connection to district St.Pauli, the port of Hamburg and the Speicherstadt (historic warehouse area).

With all those features the Millerntor Stadion is becoming a unique football stadium.
