Colleagues from across the University gathered together to celebrate the launch of the new home of the Faculty of Arts & Society, Broadcasting Place.

'Welcome to Broadcasting Place' saw the faculty's new landmark building in the city centre come to life, with performances from Northern Ballet Theatre, student performers, the Ninja Poi display team and special effect lighting, showing the unique building in all its splendour. The official opening was led by Guardian writer Martin Wainwright who spoke alongside Chief Executive Dr Geoff Hitchins and Dean of the Faculty, Professor Chris Bailey.

The event marked the start of a year celebrating the building and the new home for students and staff from the Schools of Contemporary Art & Graphic Design; Architecture, Landscape & Design; Cultural Studies; and Social Sciences.

Professor Chris Bailey, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Society, said: 'Broadcasting Place has already been described as the most notable addition to the Leeds skyline in decades.
