The competition brief specified a new residential development of luxury freehold apartments with high security standards. The idea of neighbourhood houses was to establish a form of living that emphasizes community while providing privacy and, unobtrusively, protection through its confi guration. A semi-private raised entrance forecourt forms a kind of open atrium entrance from which to access the staircases.
Visitors have another view to the park, framed by the 3rd floor balcony bridges. The forecourt area finds its counterpart in the garden terraces, walled to hide them from neighbours’ views. However, those sitting on these vineyard-type terraces—on seats or the steps leading to the gardens further down—can enjoy a
view, albeit a restricted one.
