Living Shangri-La, a 65-storey tower at University Avenue and Adelaide Street will combine a five-star hotel with a luxury condominium. Located across from the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, it will contain 220 guest rooms and, above them, 352 residences. Owners of those suites will have access to the hotel's spa and pool, as well as 24-hour conveniences such as housekeeping and room service.
Living Shangri-La Toronto is the second Canadian property to be developed by Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts along with Vancouver-based Westbank and Peterson Group. The companies' Living Shangri-La Vancouver will be completed next year. Shangri-La Hotels is well known in Asia for its high-end hotels and resorts, and now is expanding into North America.
The Toronto tower, situated between the financial and entertainment districts, will include 279 one- and two-bedroom suites from the 18th to 48th floor. Prices range from $550,000 to $1.7-million. (***Note: 80% of units were sold before official launch of this project***)
Starting on the 49th floor, there will be 71 executive suites measuring between 1,900 and 3,700 square feet. Priced from $2.1-million to more than $5-million, these units will feature separate elevators, lobbies, and concierge and valet services. There are a few two-level plans with double-height ceilings in the principal room.
The two penthouse units will have more than 6,000 square feet of space and cost about $10-million each.
