Hayes Davidson files legal claim over 20 Blackfriars Road

Planning and visualisation specialist Hayes Davidson has begun a High Court legal battle with a developer over alleged unpaid fees of £100,000 for work on a central London residential block.

In the claim, the firm says it is owed the money by developer Circleplane for its work on a building called 20 Blackfriars Road.

The scheme is intended to be a mixed-use development and was designed by Wilkinson Eyre – which was replaced on the project last May.

It is one of two high-profile developments slated for the stretch of the road south of Blackfriars Bridge.

But work on 20 Blackfriars and nearby 1 Blackfriars, designed by Ian Simpson Architects, have both been held up by the recession.

Hayes Davidson claims it is owed £111,000 plus a further £17,000 by the developer, which took over the site from Land Securities.

When built, the scheme at 20 Blackfriars is due to feature a 23 storey office tower and a 42 storey residential block.

It was given the green light last year by the then communities secretary Hazel Blears – seven years after Wilkinson Eyre first drew up plans.
