Flamenco City in Jerez de la Frontera

The City of Flamenco is one of the most ambitious projects of the Town Council of Jerez, and its aim is to regenerate the historic centre of the city. It will take the form of different spaces and buildings in Plaza Belén, in the heart of the medieval city, and the centre of the ancient Andalusian medina.

Our proposal is: a walled garden which will become the Flamenco City. We don't aim to produce an urban icon-landmark, but rather a puzzle made up of fragments, able to grow, able to integrate other buildings be they both already existing or new. Our proposal for Jerez may be understood to be an artificial, iconographic topography, deep-rooted in flamenco traditions and everyday culture.
