Albert Memorial Tower in London

Edward Beckitt Lamb and John Pollard Seddon's original plans called for a 168m tall eddifice to commemorate Queen Victoria's dead Consort, Prince Albert as well as other icons of the British Empire.

The building was designed to be the tallest in the world, and the maximum possible height stone can be built at without collapsing under its own weight.

Plans also included remodelling Westminster Abbey by adding a third tower to make it fit in with the rest of Westminster and St Magarets Church. Work on this was carried out.

The overall concept was to turn Westminster into a grand Victorian Acropolis style complex to testify at the greatness of the British Empire.
