Möckernkiez in Berlin

The Möckernkiez initiative is launched. planningstart for the pilot project as defined by the European concept for accessibility is in April. It involved a team of five architectural practices selected in a design competition selected : Baumschlager Eberle Berlin GmbH, Baufrösche architects and urban planners GmbH, who also developed the urban design for the Möckern neighborhood, Rolf Disch solar architecture, roedig.schop architects GbR and Schulte-Frohlinde Architects . Drees & Sommer Berlin takes over the project management for the 70-million project. Even prior to the architectural competition, Drees & Sommer reviewed and evaluated possible energy concepts.

The Möckernkiez iniative will allow cross-generational, accessible and ecological living. 30,000 square meter area will be built at the Yorck, corner Möckernstraße in Berlin Kreuzberg, adjacent to the Gleisdreick Park. Here, around 400 apartments and 7,000 square meters of commercial space for the accommodation-based care of the residents emerge in the neighborhood. The houses are built in passive house standard and require virtually no heat.
