Bankside in Leeds

The former Yorkshire Chemical sites in Leeds have been acquired by developer Gladedale Group.
Gladedale wants to create schemes which include offices, residential living, retail, and leisure facilities.
The value of the schemes could be as much as £450m. The two brownfield sites, which cover 8 acres at Hunslet Road and 10 acres at Kirkstall Road lie close to the heart of the city.
Gladedale said that this was the biggest commercial investment in Leeds during the last 12 months effectively extending the city centre even further south and west.
Gladedale's goal is to create two mixed use communities of national standing and bring something genuinely new to Leeds.

The site on Hunslet Road has been renamed The Works, while the site on Kirkstall Road is now called Bankside.

Two Yorkshire architectural firms have been appointed to work on the schemes. Allen Todd Architects will be designing Bankside, while Carey Jones will be masterminding The Works.
