Mt Roskill Library upgrade and restoration in Auckland

The library and convention centre have served the people of Mt Roskill, Three Kings and surrounding suburbs well since 1976 but they no longer meet the needs of this diverse and growing community. When we are finished these spaces will be bigger, brighter and more inviting and allow greater flexibility of use.
The building exterior will be repainted and we are doing some work to better connect internal access between the two facilities within the building. Work is expected to be completed in December 2011.

In the library

The floor layout will be reconfigured and currently unused space utilised to expand the size of the library.
This will provide an additional 120 square metres and allow a more welcoming entranceway to be developed. There will be dedicated areas for specific activities like sitting back and relaxing with a book or working on a computer in the learning centre. The interior décor is being upgraded and a feature of the new-look library will be the kowhai-patterned glass panels positioned behind the service counters. The Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB) located next to the library is also being refurbished at the same time and is likely to be closed during the work.

In the Fickling Convention Centre

The space is being reconfigured to allow two new meeting rooms to become available for hire. The décor will be upgraded and we are sure users will be delighted with the fresher and brighter look. The new meeting rooms, for example, will benefit from natural light coming through the new floor to ceiling window.
