Martineau Galleries in Birmingham

Martineau Galleries is a major mixed-use development planned for the city centre of Birmingham. The location is currently occupied by a small shopping centre built in the 1960s, a multi-storey car park and an empty office block.

The plans for the site include the construction of a new shopping area, mixed with office space, residential apartments, 400 room hotel and a cultural facility, all within 8 buildings up to 110 metres in height. It has been proposed by the company that constructed the Bullring Shopping Centre just down the road from this site. It has been approved in outline.

Due to the economic crisis, work will not be started on site until 2014.
