Guangzhou International Finance Center in Guangzhou

This 285,000 m2 large building will be the tallest skyscraper in Guangzhou and one of the tallest in China when completed.

It won the competition between 12 proposals for the site, which also included the East Tower. The tower has a mixture of uses including office space, a luxury hotel and a top floor sightseeing area. At ground level, the tower will connect with a substantial podium complex containing a retail mall, conference centre and high quality serviced apartments, along with links to a second, similar structure proposed for the neighbouring site. Floors 1 to 66 of West Tower are planned to be used as office, floors 67 to 68 are mechanical equipment, floors 69 to 98 as hotel and in floor 99 and 100 there will be an observation deck. There is a hotel lobby on the 70th Floor.

Conceived as slender curved forms, the towers will frame Guangzhou Zhujiang New Town’s main axis, linking the commercial district in the north with the Pearl River to the south. Their triangular plan responds to the need for efficient internal space layouts and excellent environmental performance.

The building will be completed and opened to the 2010 Asian Games.
